Get an OpenAI API key

Add credit to an OpenAI API account, create a secret key, and connect it to Noivq. You only do this once.

Takes about 5 minutes
You’ll end up with a key like

  1. Sign in to the OpenAI platform

    Go to platform.openai.com and sign in, or create an account.

  2. Add credit

    New OpenAI API accounts pay in advance. Open Billing, choose Add payment details, then Buy credits. OpenAI’s minimum is $5. Without credit, requests fail with a billing error.

  3. Create a secret key

    Open platform.openai.com/api-keys and create a new secret key. Give it a name you’ll recognise, such as “Noivq”.

  4. Copy it now

    OpenAI shows the full key only once, when you create it. Copy it straight away. It starts with sk-. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.

  5. Paste it into Noivq

    Open Noivq’s Setup page (the gear button at the top of the side panel) and go to AI connection. Choose OpenAI, paste the key, press Save, then Test connection.

    The key is stored only in your browser and sent only to OpenAI. Noivq has no server that could see it.
